The annual Fortune 500 list of the nation’s largest publicly-traded companies ranked Oshkosh Corp. at #425 with $6.28 billion in fiscal 2016 revenues, down just a spot from its ranking of #424 on the 2016 list. Oshkosh Corp. ranked #394 on the 2015 edition of the list.
The expanded list from Fortune also included Bemis Company of Neenah at #587 on 2016 revenues of $4.00 billion, also down one spot from its ranking of #586 a year ago; and Plexus Corp. of Neenah at #795 on fiscal 2016 receipts of $2.56 billion, up a handful spots from its 2016 ranking at #805 and up substantially from its 2015 ranking at #902.
One notable exception from northeast Wisconsin-based publicly-traded companies was Schneider National of Ashwaubenon, which just sold its private ownership to shareholders in the open market this past April. The trucking firm will be eligible to appear on the list beginning in 2018. Based upon the company’s reported fiscal 2016 revenues of roughly $4 billion, Schneider National would rank just above #600 on the list.
The leading company on the annual list was Walmart with $486 billion in sales last year, while the leading Wisconsin-based form on the list was Northwestern Mutual of Milwaukee with $28.80 billion in 2016 revenue.
